Days Since McLaren Unboxed is an independent fan project operated as Project DSMU / NBarter94. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by McLaren Racing, Formula 1, the FIA or their partners.

2. What this notice covers
This notice applies to dayssince.mclarenunboxed.com, including its Concept and Classic views. The site has no user accounts, forms, newsletter sign-up, comments, checkout or other feature through which visitors can submit personal details.
Ko-fi, social networks, video platforms and other websites reached through external links operate independently and apply their own privacy notices.
3. What the site does — and does not — collect
No visitor submissions
Project DSMU does not ask for or deliberately collect names, email addresses, postal addresses, payment details or other personal information through this website. It does not maintain user accounts, visitor profiles or a marketing database.
Browser-only preference and Easter eggs
The site uses local storage rather than cookies to remember the Easter-egg audio level under mclarenAudioVolume and the Concept discovery-log progress under dsmu.easter-eggs.discovered.v1. The discovery log contains only the identifiers of Easter-egg routes found on that browser. These values stay on your device and are not sent back to Project DSMU.
You can remove the saved discovery progress using RESET DEVICE LOG inside DISCOVERY_LOG.EXE. The action requires confirmation and removes only the DSMU discovery-log record; it does not remove the audio preference or unrelated browser data. Progress used inside unfinished multi-step Easter eggs remains temporary page state and disappears when the page is reloaded.
Technical delivery information
The project is self-hosted and does not use a separate third-party hosting provider. As with any website, a request must still carry technical information such as an IP address, request time, requested URL and browser details to the self-hosted web server and Cloudflare so the page can be delivered and protected. Depending on the server and Cloudflare settings, this information may appear in operational or security logs. Project DSMU does not use those details to build visitor profiles or try to identify individual visitors.
Optional YouTube videos
On the main Concept page, YouTube videos use a click-to-load control. Merely opening the page or a tracker information panel does not create an embedded player or send a request to YouTube. If you select Load YouTube video, your browser connects to a privacy-enhanced player at youtube-nocookie.com. Google / YouTube may then receive information such as your IP address, browser or device information and interaction data, and may store or access cookies or similar information on your device.
Privacy-enhanced mode limits how a view of embedded content is used for personalisation; it does not mean that Google receives no information after you load the player. Your loading choice applies only to that open video panel, is not saved by Project DSMU and is reset when the panel closes. Selecting Watch on YouTube opens YouTube directly, where Google’s own privacy controls and terms apply.
The separate Classic page retains its original embedding method and may connect to YouTube when that page loads, without waiting for the Concept page’s click-to-load control.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Project DSMU’s own code does not set cookies. It uses browser local storage for the audio-volume preference and Concept discovery-log progress described above. Third-party services may use cookies or similar technologies; “similar technologies” includes browser local storage and online identifiers. On the Concept page, the optional YouTube player is not created until you deliberately load it.

Your choices: on the Concept page, you can clear discovery progress using RESET DEVICE LOG inside the discovery window. You can decline the embedded YouTube connection by leaving the video unloaded. Closing a loaded video panel removes that embedded player, although it does not undo information already handled by Google. You can clear the audio-volume preference and all site storage through your browser’s site-data controls. Google provides separate controls for information handled by YouTube.
5. Why information is used
- To deliver the tracker and retrieve the latest public McLaren Unboxed episode information.
- To keep the site secure, available and resistant to abuse.
- To investigate faults and view aggregate traffic information supplied by Cloudflare.
- To remember a volume preference you choose.
- To remember which Concept Easter-egg routes have been recorded on your device.
- To provide optional embedded video content when you request it.
Where UK GDPR applies, processing used to operate, secure and troubleshoot the site is generally based on the operator’s legitimate interests. Processing that legally requires consent, including certain third-party device-storage activities, relies on consent. Legal obligations may also require limited processing or retention.
6. Services that may receive information
- Cloudflare, which may handle network and security information while delivering and protecting the website. Read the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Google / YouTube, after you load an embedded video or follow a YouTube link on the Concept page, and potentially when the separate Classic page loads its original embeds. Read the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube’s explanation of privacy-enhanced embedding.
Project DSMU does not collect visitor submissions, maintain a visitor database, or sell or rent visitor personal information. YouTube may conduct its own processing when embedded content is loaded, as described in Google’s privacy notice.
7. International processing
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK personal information is transferred internationally, the transfer may rely on UK adequacy regulations, an approved international data-transfer agreement or addendum, or another safeguard permitted by data-protection law, depending on the provider and destination. The linked provider notices explain their transfer arrangements. You can request further information about applicable safeguards through the contact route above.
8. Retention
The audio-volume preference stays only in your browser until you change it or clear site data. Concept discovery-log progress stays in that browser until you use RESET DEVICE LOG or clear site data. Temporary progress inside unfinished multi-step Easter eggs is not retained after the page is reloaded. The Concept page does not retain your decision to load a YouTube video; closing and reopening its panel presents the choice again. Technical request data is processed to deliver and protect the self-hosted site and may be retained in server or Cloudflare security logs if those logging features are enabled. Cloudflare and YouTube apply the retention periods described in their own documentation.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information. These rights can be limited in some circumstances.
Your right to object: where Project DSMU relies on legitimate interests, you may object to that processing. Your circumstances and the reasons for continuing the processing will then be considered.
Withdrawing consent: you can stop the current embedded YouTube player by closing its video panel or leaving the page. Where other third-party processing relies on consent, you may also withdraw that consent through the relevant provider’s controls or by blocking or clearing its cookies and site data in your browser. You can remove Project DSMU discovery progress with RESET DEVICE LOG, and clear the audio-volume preference through your browser’s site-data controls. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
Because Project DSMU does not collect visitor submissions or maintain account records, it will normally have no visitor record linked to your identity. The operator may need information from you to locate any relevant technical record, and may be unable to identify an individual from aggregate reports or identifiers held only by a third party.
UK visitors may also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
10. Children
The site is a general-audience Formula 1 fan project. It has no feature through which children or adults can submit personal information to Project DSMU. If you nevertheless have a privacy concern involving a child, please use the contact route above.
11. Changes to this policy
This notice may be updated when the site, its providers or applicable requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
